ZOMG, Snakes and Rabbits…

September 30, 2006

Apparently, not only does the city where I am currently at have tons of bugs, it’s also got snakes and lots of rabbits.

A couple day ago when I was returning to my room on campus after doing some shopping in town, I stepped on a snake. The shadows caused by the sun made it rather difficult to see clearly, and I didn’t realize I was about to step on the snake until the very last minute. It was a pretty small one; maybe about 20 centimeters in length. Carrying tons of crap on my shoulders, I couldn’t exactly halt my momentum at a moment’s notice. I did my best to avoid it, but the toe portion of my shoe landed on the tail of the snake. It didn’t try to bite me or anything, but quickly slithered away into the grass. This was my first genuine encounter with a wild, untamed snake, so I suppose the experience was pretty unique in its own special way.

When I first saw the rabbits while waiting for the bus, I thought my eyes were deceiving me. After confirming the sight with a couple of people around me, it appeared to be real and not a hallucination brought forth by my then dehydrated state (ran out of bottled water and forgot to buy more the day before, so haven’t had anything to drink). There were probably six or seven rabbits on the other side of the road foraging for food in the grass. It seemed strange to me that rabbits could live so close to a place where humans are abundant, but that is, apparently, how things are here. A couple of the girls were squealing about how cute the “bunnies” (I refuse to use that name for personal reasons) were and whatnot, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to comprehend how the female mind interprets “cuteness.”

Anyway, that’s my rant of the week. I’m still waiting for chapter 41 of Black Lagoon so I can blog it, and it’s taking a long~ time. I better get back to doing that history term paper for the time being….

The Weather is Broken…

September 5, 2006

Okay. I’m am currently in rez at my university. It’s been three days since my arrival, and I’ve more or less gotten used to the way things are here. The trip was pretty tiring so I didn’t feel like writting an entry the day I moved in. Now that I’m settled, hopefully I can get back to posting regularly again, but having to deal with five writing-oriented courses this term, I can’t exactly promise anything. :P
